I disagree. Striping all the ancillary shit (alot), lwfw + pulley (about 27 pounds off the rotating mass), aggressive na cams, srs 30, ported heads, proper custom intake and full exhaust...on a fresh rebuild with a bit higher compression? 180whp is totally double. Ask me how I know. :)

Although I don't disagree with the H6 swap as I already suggested it and have done it. ;)

I got 180whp out of my 2.5..... by ripping it out and dropping a 3.3 in. :D

Without a turbo or nitrous, you'll never see an affordable 200whp out of the NA ej25 engines.

Or, if you have access to a machine shop you happen to run/own you could have them do serious work to the engine..... and make power up at 9,001rpm's.
9001 rpms is very specific haha

You will need a pile of money and a good shop. Or a pile of money, tools, skills, knowledge, and time. Also, I heard if you deposit the cash directly in the throttle body it will increase the performance.

answer:

2.5 MAX is about 180 at the wheels.
And that'll cost a lot.
and you won't be happy.

But for nearly free you can buy an SVX and swap in the 3.3, and have 200whp. Then part out the shell to make it a free swap.

But no. No one (even the 10k NA 2.5 builds) has ever hit 200whp and posted a dyno.

can we close this thread? please? for the love of all that is holy and good?!!

:unamused:

quiet you! I want this thread to DIEINAFIRE!!!

(but not willing to unsub for some strange reason...)

I have yet to see a dyno from carbotron.

This all comes down to the "with bolt ons" point. Not just 200hp with an NA 2.5. That is possible. Especially if we're talking crank. I agree this thread is moot but still somehow interesting.

The fact is, 200HP at the crank is entirely achievable.

On the other hand "200 WHP" is such an ambiguous number.

Just look at the difference between a Mustang dyno and a Dynojet, then compare those still to a road dyno.

Then you still have to take into account the temperature, tire pressures, altitude, correction factors, the alignment of the planets in the solar system....

However, I will agree, this thread is still interesting.

dafuq is virtual dyno?

Also, a dyno chart does not an argument make. You'll need to post a mod list too.
Virtual Dyno is a road dynoing software.

Mod list:
-Kartboy crank pulley
-OBX headers wrapped in header wrap
-OBX midpipe
-Scoobysport axleback
-Ganzflow intake with K&N drop-in. (The entire intake is wrapped in heat insulating tape)
-Grimmspeed phenolic intake manifold spacers
-'99 RS intake manifold to delete air-assist injectors
-Cobb "Spicy" cams
-Cobb valve springs
-Cobb titanium retainers
-Full port 'n polish on cylinder heads
-Tomei timing belt guide
-STi head gaskets

There's probably more that I am forgetting...

virtual dyno's are known to be off. Good for ballpark, but not going to prove an argument that's spanned 818 posts.
I know, I figured myself it was a fluke.
Who knows, maybe the ground wasn't completely flat, or perhaps I had a strong tail wind.

I also know it is in the ballpark whp for my car, my trap speeds at the 1320' concur.

I'm not so much trying to "prove" anything, just trying to keep this thread interesting...
